I have looked at the MDI website they have no date for the start of production.

The production scheduled to start in March 2011 in Switzerland did not happen, and the licensee, Catecar...

In September 2009 MDI says production and sales will start in January or February 2010. Then production was to be May 2010. Then November 2010. Then MDI was to build a factory for distributor Catecar in Switzerland and start production in March 2011.

This prototype never went into production and in the only public test it ran out of air after 7.22km -- less than 5 miles.

Their project is now a tiny bubble like car. It has also been "next year production" for several years, although they have not yet built a fully functional prototype.

@GoCo77 The problem is that MDI has never built a prototype that comes anywhere near to meeting the specified range. IT-MDI wasn't willing to pay additional $5M to MDI.

@Charlieutube99 MDI furnished a prototype to KLM airlines. Running around slowly at the Airport it has a range of less than 15km (10 miles).

MDI continues to claim 200km range, though, and continues to try and get investors to send in money for licenses.

The car was supposed to be going into production right around the March/April 2009 timeframe.

Then late 2009 was the production start date.

Then mid-2010.

The latest news report quotes Guy Negre as saying production will start in March 2011.

Any bets on whether production actually starts then...

MDI has missed their many previously announced start-of-production dates. They have not announced the latest target date, but rumors are that it is, as always, "next year".

Unfortunately, that is the same status as for each of the last 10+ years, and most likely will be the status a year from now.
