About this user
From the Bay Area to Manhattan, a sonic jihad is ready to strike with the long-awaited release of the provocative debut album from Charlie Manhattan. Titled "The Manhattan Project," the album is set to detonate in June 26, 2007. After dropping explosive joints on Bay Area compilation albums, a few of which include "Live from the Gutter","Killa Tay Presents The Murder Show Soundtrack," "11-5 presents: Grind And Post," and "Theme Music To Drug Dealins And Killins," which features the likes of Young Noble of The Outlawz, Guce and Cold World Hustlers, Charlie's upcoming album is named after the Manhattan Project, the top-secret engineering project for developing the atomic bomb. With San Francisco as Ground Zero, Charlie's bone-crushing rhymes take aim with nineteen blazing tracks that will make weaker MCs run and take cover. Born as Charles Williams, this earsplitting rhyme slanger from the Yay got his street name Charlie Manhattan after being told he was such a talented rapper, it was like "Charlie Takes Manhattan." The shoe definitely fits, and this West Coast rapper wears it well, although there just might be a bomb planted in it. Walking in those shoes around his home grounds of the Bay View Hunters Point section of San Francisco affected Charlie to the core. His harsh surroundings, however, convinced him to drop bombs that are creative, rather than destructive. Charlie says he has seen "Gang violence, drugs, pretty much everything. It has influenced me in my music. But since I'm a really down to earth person, I'm not segregating myself off to one section of the city or part of Cali, or one part of anything. My experiences have influenced me, through the things that I've seen, been around, and things that family members have been through." Wickedly proficient, this fiery lyricist has certainly seen more than his share. He concedes, "My dad has been in jail my entire life." Charlie, however, has always kept his eyes and his flow trained on his target. Back at the laboratory, producers on this explosive album are Laid Black Productions, comprised of Mr. Laid and Chill Black, Slo Burn of BAISS Entertainment who is one of the newest members of the now expanding LaidBlack Production. Among the guests on the album, upcoming R&B Singer Omari Jelani is featured on "Thinkin Bout U" and "TAXI" features the sultry vocals of Calita Talley. Club bangers like "Traffic" which features Charlie's younger brother "Lil' Brah" and "Right Here" are destined to make this album ghetto gold. Charlie says, "It's basically about having fun, whatever it is you want to do. If you want to kick it with the thugs, fine, just have fun." The album is slated to be released June 26, 2007 by Laid Black Productions & The Pen, headed by EMI Music veteran Tom Cartwright and longtime Bay Area entertainment entrepreneur, Warren Foster and distributed by Fontana/Universal.Hometown
