Charles William Grigsby, Jr. (born September 15, 1978, in Oberlin, Ohio) is an American singer and was a contestant on the 2nd season of "American Idol."
In 2003, Charles auditioned for American Idol where he impressed Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, though not Simon Cowell. He took center stage and belted out a rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed." Simon Cowell recanted his previous remarks and gave Grigsby votes of high praise. The performance garnered him the most votes from the viewers, securing him as the first of the 12 FINALISTS. Charles was voted off on March 19, 2003 but that was just the beginning of his musical career.
In year 2005, Charlie released an EP self-titled that reunited him to the American public. The long days and late nights in the studio paid off, once again bringing him back to center stage.
In 2006 he joined a group named "The Croonerz" that consisted of singers with high accolades and stature in the music world: Marcus Cross, Peter Fumich, Deedee. The Croonerz specialize in a diverse style of genres ranging from Motown, 60's, 70's funk, R&B, Classic Rock, Top 40, etc. They performed in local sport bars, clubs, restaurants, festivals and conventions.
In 2010, Charles Grigsby continued to broaden his horizons by joining an international band called "Centric". This group went all the way to Thailand and entertained the guests of Hard Rock Cafe Pattaya with their blend of pop, rock, R&B, dance, hip-hop and other funky sounds for six months.
In February 2011, Charles Grigsby went to the Philippines and entertained a few offers, including a host of public appearance and performance invitations he received during his short stay for only 2 Weeks!
Now he's back in the United States and is currently working on new material with talented people like Dave Turner (co-songwriter) and Darrell Taylor (Producer) that will give the world new and refreshing sound from an old face. Stay tuned, subscribe and stay up-to-date!
