About this user
Charlie was born in Mobile, Al. His family and friends know him as Jimmy, but in the world of music he goes by his middle name Charlie. In 1973 Charlie left Mobile to pursue a career in photography with Olan Mills Studios traveling town to town state to state making portraits for families. Some locations he photographed in had a piano on site. Places like the VFW, American Legion and some Holiday Inn's were popular for this. (Charlie fell in love with the piano when his parents brought a Story & Clark home when he was a kid.) He would get to location early and leave late if he had the opportunity to sit down and pick on the piano and after 18 years Charlie developed his own style of music. Charlie made the decision to leave his career and pursue his interest in music with fair success. He has written over 100 songs and more than 100 instrumental compositions. During the 90's, he spent three years working in a recording studio as a studio musician and recording engineer working with local and national recording artist and learning alot or should I say "taking it all in". From this experience Charlie with the help of his family, friends and songwriter Doc Jones recorded the "Sparkle" cd. Album contains both original songs and instrumental compositions. Charlie's latest album "Easy Chair" is a collection of home recordings lending it's self mostly to acoustic instruments like Madolin, Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Harmonica and even alittle Piano, Flute and Percussion.
CHARLIE'S COMMENT...
For the most part I'm a solo artist. Sometimes our family of friends join together to perform shows. Our family of artist consist of Cindy Jo Cobb who writes, plays guitar, bass and flute; Doc Jones, singer/songwriter with his own unique style; Greg who keeps the beat on bass; The Campbell Girls who add delicate harmony and grace to the stage; Terry who adds that special touch with the harmonica; Tracy Parks, a good songwriter plus an entertaining stage performer with her own natural style; Adam and his mandolin always sounds great. Sometimes we get together to jam and have fun by the campfire and joined by more of our family, Lauren on bass, Chris and Shawn on the drum, Mike an awesome guitarist, Eric with his jazzy and smooth guitar style, Tom on his wash-tub bass and now mandolin, Zack who can play one heck of a bass lick, Randy and Belinda who adds that taste of bluegrass and Mak who has come from bass man to songwriter/guitarist. The list keeps on growing and growing. Penny, known for her kindness and special songwriting, Dottie and Ronnie who enjoys entertaining others with their music and Tammy who really likes playing the tambourine. What a musical circle! and the circle keeps on growing. Yvonne who's vocals always add a great touch to any song.
