I was told by one of the Crystal Cathedral musicians that Pastor and Mrs. Schuller didn't like anything in a minor key.

I was here when she recorded the piece - it was incredible! She spent a few minutes on registrations the WHAM - this is what was recorded. She also recorded "Nimrod" in the same session, same thing, a spectacular performance with minimal preparation.

Wow! Spectacular. I just ordered the CD, and look forward to annoying my neighbors with the full organ sounds. Especially the Larry King piece!

I think this, arranged for organ and brass, would be perfect for a wedding procession in a big resonant building!

It's fun to hear about Shipley spurs - my great-grandfather was the original Charles Shipley of the saddle-making company. I wish I had a pair of Shipley spurs!

Really superb - the organist plays with the room. i have to say I can't imagine Virgil Fox playing this well. I never heard him play live, but recordings and the YouTube stuff I've seen are short on accuracy, but long on excitement. Again this recording is excellent.

I heard this last night here in San Francisco on KFOG. From the first chord I knew it was something special. It took a bit of research, and here it is! What an amazing song, and the video is superb. I'm leaving for a road trip tomorrow, and look forward to listening to the whole record on the trip.

Okay, so I thought I would really show off by running over the huge pile of trash bags in front of her neighbors house. She did not tell me that they were piled around a fire hydrant, completely concealing it. The results were spectacular, just not in the way I had hoped . . .

I THINK the choir is St. Paul's Cathedral, London, back when John Scott and Christopher Dearnley were both there. Choirs feel a great sense of achievement when they learn this one!

This is one of the anthems that some serious musicians think a bit common, but choirs and congregations have loved it for decades, and will still be loving it long after the purists are gone! It superbly illustrates one of the great texts of Advent.

The album liner notes say the words are "traditional" but they were written by Bishop Phillips Brooks.

Sounds like intestinal distress; maybe a bit more fibr in his diet might help.

He was certainly the greatest champion of new music in mid-century. Krenek, Diamond, and many more are known today thanks to Mitropoulos. He paid the price, though, as many audiences and critics rebelled at his adventurous programming.
