About this user
Hey leme tel you something about myself.Im Charlie Elbakry from Amsterdam i love music and besides that im a student Architecture in Delft.
The first time i got hooked with electronic music i think was the track from PPK "Resurection" i heard in on radio 538 wich is a realy populair radio station in The Netherlands. I just loves the tune and feeling of it. A couple of years later i think around 2006 a friend of mine Jeroen (Jerotone) was playing a set of ministry of sound from Awxwell and it was the cd The Villa i remember i realy realy loved this stuff and it was the very first time i listend to house music with my attention to it. I can remember @ around 20.00 minits it had a track wich had some similaraties to the PPK tune, now i can indentify this song as Fairmont- Gazebo.
I started looking around the internet not knowing what kinda stuff their was out there just with the name minsitry of sound i started looking around, and bunced up to a set from Mark Knight: V.A. Sessions mixed by Mark Knight. From this point i kept searching and found various sets of Seamus Haji, Andy C etc/
On this moment there was no turning back i was infected with the electronic music virus. I really really liked this stuff
I kept downloading all kinds of house sets and playing them time after time. Around this time i started going to parties and when i look back these where very commerical yet house parties.
Sometime around 2007 i got infected with the essential mix and the first i downloades was the set from trentemoller wich i very much liked because it had some spiritual feeling in it and was different from all the house sets i listennd over and over.
The next essential mix i downloaded was from John Digweed live @ "The Warehouse Project" under piccadilly stationstation. I love this stuff soooooo much. One of the best sets i ever heard in my live.
After this period a friend of mine asked me to go to Club 11 in Amsterdam (where i lived) when i was buying a ticked there was al crazy graffiti around and the elevator was bombed so hard with graffiti i start asking myself what is this for a fuckedup kinda place, the elevator stopped and i walked out into a a kinda big space where aperantly the toilets where near. When i walked into the main room where it was happening i was estonished by the people the music the sound (funktion one) and i kept comming until it closed down around June 2008.
Around this time i was experimentating with virtual dj not knowing any onther dj's or alike. I succedeed in making some nice mixes for my own ears, sometimes i gave away my sets but never thought it was very good. I sended some sets to an old friend from the 3th year on my school (wich later on turned into bedroom producer and dj Sem Omit)
he asked me to play at an underground party, playing songs like dj shuffle;) but with some handy mouse mixing by virtual dj. Sem omit had borrowed the "dj console mk2 " from in that time a beginning producer and dj Verlenging (who turned later on in Johnny Ratslag) i thought this device from manufacturer hercules was very cool, and i bought my own but then the mp3 version a couple of weeks later. After beeing bored but estonished by this small device a lot of my friend bought the semi proffesional hercules RMX dj console wich i still use this day. Wich i used sometime with the standard cracky sounding virtual dj. Later on my friend Sem Omit convinced me to use traktor, when used both traktor and virtual dj i discoverd traktor in the first place sounds much better, had a much better interface and modifialbe interface but also you could aply various custom midi settings to your device. Ever since i used traktor in combination with my RMX dj console. Lator on i bought my novation nocturn wich in my opinion is a peace off crap but it does the job for now on,
I know im not there jet and i think for the future i will buy an xone serries device like the 3d and d series.
Right now im building my first custom midi controller and well see how it ends up...
Sorry for my bad english but ill get it updated later on.
