✄✄ I don't have to deal with this yet, but to set the record straight, when my hair grows longer I will not cut it for charity. Hair is not for growing and chopping off to give to people with cancer, alopecia etc.. It's not selfish to NOT want to be harvested! If I was ill I'd be grateful to the people who donated, but I wouldn't shun those who have long hair. I'd praise them for their ability to grow it and have it to nurture. Let us nurture what nature gave to us.
If you still don't agree or at least respect that, some words from someone you might listen to:

Reason for growing my hair:
The main reason for growing my hair is that I first made it a mission to grow it long when I thought of how good it felt to feel my hair brush against my shoulders and partial back when it was at APL (arm pit length). It was at chin when I made this decision. A few months after that I missed my natural hair and began giving up dye and embracing my dark brown hair. I figured I wasn't knowledgeable enough to be appreciative of my hair and now that I am I can be blessed with long healthy virgin hair.
Another reason I want to grow it long is that I find running my fingers through my hair to be therapeutic/relaxing.
I also like to nurture and pamper myself sometimes and that includes my hair and long hair is also a sign, not only to others but to myself, of patience, tolerance, and determination, when it is in good condition.
Yet another reason is, contrary to what many think, it is easier to maintain once you learn how (your) hair works and I'm curious what my terminal length is, especially since I have a cousin with hair down to her knees. One reason that is by happen-stance (comes with wanting to own long and healthy hair) and only secondary is to prove to people that you can have long hair and have beautiful healthy ends.
