OUTSTANDING
The best of the best. Hall of fame beers. Magnificent, delicious, wonderful beers.

EXCELLENT
A "Flawed Masterpiece". Almost as good as a 10, but missing a certain something that would make it a perfect beer.

VERY GOOD
A tasty, satisfying, enjoyable beer. Little to no flaws, plenty of attributes and fun to drink.

Just plain good - nothing about it blows my mind, but it definitely has good qualities to it.

ABOVE AVERAGE/OKAY
The lowest I can rate a beer and still honestly give it a thumbs up. It has flaws for sure, but they're minor distractions and the attributes are enough to overshadow the flaws (at least for a serving or two). Nothing I'd jump for joy about, but a drinkable, satisfactory beer to be sure.

AVERAGE/NEUTRAL
Not quite a good beer, not quite a bad beer. I don't love it and I don't hate it, mostly I have no opinion on it. It's may have something to like but there's definitely something holding it back. I neither recommend it nor recommend against it. It's up to you.

BELOW AVERAGE
The best of the worst. A beer with noticeable flaws and perhaps some minor attributes. Tolerable for a serving or two, but no reason to seek it out. A genuine thumbs down, but not something I despise.

TOLERABLE
While not the worst beer, there's probably nothing about I like. Plenty of flaws and flat-out repulsive qualities. I can maybe get one down, but that's it and I definitely would steer clear of it.

Very repulsive, unappealing beer. Nothing to like about it at all. All flaws and no attributes.

Absolutely repulsive. Everything that could be bad about it is. Unlikely to even be tolerable for more than a few swigs, if at all.

The absolute worst of the worst. Repulsive to the nth degree. Cannot even stomach a single swig.
