The Center for Art and Public Life employs the creative practices of art, design, and architecture to generate collaborative exchanges that inspire civic engagement and cultivate social justice. The Centers programming is woven across disciplines at California College of the Arts and serves diverse local and global communities.

Diverse and Creative Partnerships
The Center establishes reciprocally beneficial partnerships with diverse individuals and organizations that engage multifaceted perspectives in art, academia, and beyond.

Teaching and Learning Exchanges
The Center develops opportunities for CCA faculty, students, and community partners to participate in dynamic, collaborative exchanges through coursework, internships, and sponsored projects.

Innovative Programming
The Center engages in interdisciplinary projects, programming, and new models of practice that integrate reciprocal, community-based learning into formal education for artists, architects, and designers nationwide.

The Centers multifaceted programming enables CCA students to develop artistic practices that engage with local communities. It creates opportunities for them to work in local K-12 classrooms; to engage with local public school teachers to develop arts curricula; and to initiate workshops, exhibitions, and lectures by prominent visiting artists and scholars whose work directly engages the community. These programs are designed to work in concert for the greatest possible benefit to all participants and to take full advantage of the many student and faculty resources at CCA.
