In more then fifty years of activity Cemp has created one of the most comprehensive ranges of electric motors for hazardous areas available on the market today including flameproof motors, "non sparking" motors. Furthermore, Cemp supplies customers with consulting services for designing and manufacturing motors with special features.
Safety specialist
Established in 1954, Cemp was among the first companies in Italy to manufacture flameproof motors. Over the years, the product range has broadened introducing flameproof motors with brake, electric pumps for printing machines, flameproof motors for Group IIC gases and for mining.
In 1998 Cemp entered a new growth phase joining a large group of private investors and in 2000 it acquired Atav (now know Cemp France) a French company specialising in small aluminium flameproof motors.
Cemp joins ABG Group
In November 2007 ABG acquired Cemp. The Group is headed by Rishi Agarwal, a young and dynamic entrepreneur who started business in the early nineties in the area of shipbuilding. In a short while the Group has assumed a place of prominence as the largest private sector shipyard in India. ABG has gradually diversified into Shipping, Cement and Engineering, and is poised to be a very respected and potent player in these diversified fields. Cemp is owned by ABG Motors, which in turn is owned by ABG and Tano Capital, a highly respected PE fund based in Mumbai.
