This is such a beautiful song written at a time when 'art'songs were very popular and not just for 'toffs'. One seldom hears songs like this in concert anymore. I must say I prefer Gigli's version but this is also lovely.

After listening to many of the versions available on YouTube, this is the best, bar none, for me. So eloquent, so emotional, his leggato is wonderful and his portamenti. I think this song really needs a male voice, sorry ladies. His final un REVE note is fantastic.
