Andy Fanz: see my post on the 'Starting Gate' live Planxty concert 2004. I think my post gets top billing, I was up sitting near them as I could see Liam Og cranking up the pipes that night.

Notice how the crowd know all the words....... and boo at mention of 'Nazis'.

Anyone see another video clip in here from same gig and lots in the audience dont seem to know a Moving Hearts track and they intermittently applaud some of the verses and at the words........

This has some great lines. It hasn't lost any of its impact all through the years.

A pure champion interpretation of this song. No disregard or disrespect meant to Shane McG, but when Christy got his hands on this it's up there, and right up there as one of my all-time favourite Christy M renditions.

It's on (I think!) the Unfinished Revolution CD.

I saw this being sung by Johnny and Andy at a ''Sweeneys Men" reunion gig one year in Cork many years ago.

Now get your hands on the film 'Control' which gives a good-to-great outline of the group's history. The actors who played Curtis and his young wife were great. (I forget their names).

Just listening to this in his native town - Athlone, Co Westmeath, Rep of Ireland. My late father often sang it.

Trigbiffy, gr8 memories here. I'd seen them on on this same tour, it was the Joshua Tree tour, summer of '87, Croke Park Dublin, still (like you) the best concert I was ever at. And bit like you I've seen them quite a few times since and while good I still 'measure' them against those 1987 conc...

Great moment at 8.48 at Larry hits the drums and Bono gets the song UP again and the 'love love love' portion, great vibes they were getting from the (huge!) crowd & they knew it.. Slane is a big natural amphitheatre.

Someone says U2 wouldn't have taken off without Jim K and the lads... nah says I, Simple Minds did go thru an 'anthem phase', akin to Bono & Co but look at U2 now.

I'm starting to lissnin to this since they revived at the 360 degree tour.

They began at some gigs using the opening lines of 'All I want...' and going off into another tune. I dont like gigs where a song or part of a song is used but its used to good effect at the live Slane concert where he began it but stopped and I could hear the band strike up the opening notes of...

Have just listened to a great 1983 (!) recording of Arthur McBride - brill!

I see my posting up above still. I still recall at about two minutes in Liam's pipes cranking up and they stole glances at each other as we all gave them back the vibe, 'Planxty are back' at the sound of Liams pipes.

Brill! All those years ago and it still (still!) stands the test of time.

Not a track I'm familiar with at all and I know my Planxty material.

The last track, side one, of that great black album; 'Planxty' it still stand up all these years later.

I prefer this version than the 2004 'live' edition.

Memories....... Of Chisty Moore singing this at Ballisadore Folk Festival 1978 and 1979, great memories of a man singing about political injustice and prejudice. It was 1st time I'd heard the song along with another one Sacco & Vinceti.

I still like this and a lot of the quite 'atmospheric' material it brought from them. One of the very best albums this one is.

I'm typing this only a few miles from where the castle depicted on the cover is located.

A guy beside me at Dublin's Croke Park sang it word for word with them - obviously a fan.

Released in 1973 doesn't this sound as good and as fresh as ever, I saw these live all those years ago and did we know or sense we were seeing something special; I did. The music plays on and is still (still!) influencing musicians including apparently Murmur and Son (sic) - not sure of their nam...

The first time I saw this I went' wow'! Great mighty stuff!

Nothing to beat this, nothing, Sandy Denny, Plant's voice, this was never beaten, not even 'Stairway' beats this. A classic.

'Monkstown' Co Dublin? If it was, the 'thought police' of Irish music had scarpered out of the place at these 'upstarts' introducing loud bozoukis and how dare they 'Bulgarian' timing to Irish music......!

If it was 'Monkstown' I'm surprised, said location is the HQ of CCE.
