About this user
I'm a musician who has made his life's work teaching kids music. Some of my former music students are now in top east coast bands, some own their own recording studios and are writing, recording and producing themselves as well as other artists in all styles of music, some of them are private music instructors and school music teachers.
Some of my current young music students visit this channel to check out my videos as well as the "favorite" videos I screen and gather of young talent who I hope will inspire my students and their friends who visit here. So please keep it clean. I don't allow any messed up content and I will not sub to any messed up channels. I have a zero tolerance for scams, drama, hate, spying, gossip, contraversy and stupidity... so this channel's "delete" and "block" buttons are always on stand-by.
Yeah, I do send a lot of praise out to the younger singers and musicians and video makers out there. In almost thirty years of working with young talent, I've learned how very important it is to let talented young people know how much their efforts are appreciated. I was once in their shoes as well and every little bit of praise and support that we give adds more needed confidence which is vital to success.
I have the utmost respect for the fine parents I've met of the young talent I support.... people who will go all out to help their kids' dreams come true... parents who allow their kids to show off their talents to the world, and who maintain a channel for their talented child, and some who let their kids participate in collab channels that their parents run, and who themselves, communicate with fans, making sure their kids are safe online! Three cheers for you!

With all of that said, allow me to introduce myself. I am castleofthoughts. (Joe) I began playing music and writing songs as a pre-teen so yes, I have a special interest today in hearing young talent and seeing my own students as well as young You Tubers developing their skills and putting their God-Given talents to use. My first recorded original song was written when I was in 5th grade. I had asked a classmate of mine to give me a song-title and I told him I would write a lyric based on his title. The title was "The Last Time We Met". I used an instrumental song by The Dave Clark Five as my melody and accompaniment, matched my lyrics to it, sang aliong with that music on tape, double tracking my voice on my Laffetette reel-to-reel, and I had my first home production recorded at age 10 co-written, so to speak, with my fav band, The Dave Clark Five.

I had been inspired early on by a kid singer/actor named Barry Gordon who managed to have a number 2 hit on the charts by the time he turned age 6! And his lesser-known tracks are even more brilliant. So, when I was young, I thought I'd like to be a singer/musician as well. My very first live performance was at age 10.
It is a favorite pass-time of mine to rate and comment on videos that fit my musical tastes as well as those which fit my my desire to encourage and crtique the talent I find, especially among the younger crowd , which includes promoting the drive and hard work involved in making good progress.
Throughout 1973 and 1974, whilst The Vietnam War was still raging, I had the honor of playing two USO Shows a week for US Sailors and WACS who were coming and going from Nam. The military personel were very big fans of my band and really looked forward to these shows twice every week. And the USO girls were good girls. I had only just turned 18 at that time and I had just signed up for the draft myself, when President Nixon suddenly put an end to the draft some months afterward.
I still have two 5" reels of audio tape from one of those USO shows from 1974 which include covers of "Soul Kitchen", "Dancing In The Moonlight", "She's Not There", "As Tears Go By", "Pearly Queen", "Green River" and other great songs.
I blew the dust off of some of my old recordings that were litterally lying in drawers for years on cassettes and reel-to-reel tapes, which were recorded for fun and never heard by anyone but a few friends and associates of mine, and I have some of them posted here along with slide shows I hastily created for them, for the world to hear. I've been pleasantly surprised by the great reaction certain of my songs have gotten which I thought might get panned rather than praised.
I have many interesting recordings of students of mine, including duets and collabs. Hope 2 post more soon.
