FINAL DRUDGE POLL RESULTS... READERS FROM FLORIDA ONLY: ROMNEY 34.78%... SANTORUM 24.61%... PAUL 22.7%... GINGRICH 17.92%... ---- Is President Obama Creating A Nation Of Dependents? If the Republican primaries are any indication, one big debate in the upcoming election will be whether President Obama is pushing the country toward a European-style welfare culture. While it's true that the country has been headed in this direction for many years — with the explosion in entitlements since the 1960s and the aging of the population — Obama has, in fact, greatly accelerated the trend. Examples: Direct payments. People getting benefits. Food stamps. Disability. Health care. Corporate welfare. http://news.inves... ---- Obama: Bush Is Food Stamp President, Not Me "First of all, I don't put people on food stamps. People become eligible for food stamps. Second of all, the initial expansion of food-stamp eligibility happened under my Republican predecessor, not under me. Number three, when you have a disastrous economic crash that results in 8 million people losing their jobs, more people are going to need more support from government." http://www.breitb... ---- 'I make a mistake, every hour, every day' - Obama
Barack Obama said he makes mistakes on an hourly basis as President but stood firmly behind his administration's work in bolstering the U.S. economy and jobs market.

Alex Sorokin, the CEO for lithium-ion battery manufacturer Ener1, said the company suffered when demand for the batteries dropped as fewer Americans than expected opted for electric cars. http://abcnews.go... ---- King Barry's Big Adventure http://www.canada...

Georgia warns Obama of 'peril' of ignoring eligibility hearing The state of Georgia is warning Barack Obama of the "peril" of simply ignoring today's hearing on his eligibility to be on the 2012 presidential election ballot in the state. The hearing before an administration law judge was streamed live today, but Obama's attorney, Michael Jablonski, yesterday told the state he and his client would not participate. The attorney told Secretary of State Brian Kemp that the issue already had been resolved and it wasn't any of the state's business anyway. Kemp disagreed, explaining in a response that was posted online after hours last night that the case simply was "in keeping with Georgia law." "As you are aware, OSAH Rule 616-1-2-.17 cited in your letter only applies to parties to a hearing. As the referring agency, the Secretary of State's Office is not a party to the candidate challenge hearings scheduled for tomorrow. To the extent a request to withdraw the case referral is procedurally available, I do not believe such a request would be judicious given the hearing is set for [this] morning." He continued, "I expect the administrative law judge to report his findings to me after his full consideration of the evidence and law. Upon receipt of the report, I will fully and fairly review the entire record and initial decision of the administrative law judge." He also had a warning about the costs of simply not showing up for a court hearing. "Anything you and your client place in the record in response to the challenge will be beneficial to my review of the initial decision; however, if you and your client choose to suspend your participation in the OSAH proceedings, please understand that you do so at your own peril." http://www.wnd.co... Court Filing: https://naturalbo... ---- AZ Gov. Jan Brewer Talks About Heated Argument With Obama Upon deplaning Air Force One for his fifth official visit to Arizona, President Barack Obama was greeted by Governor Jan Brewer. According to KFYI, Brewer handed the president a handwritten letter, they spoke and at one point she pointed her finger at him. It seemed they were talking over each other, then Obama appeared to walk away from the governor while she was still talking. "He was a little disturbed about my book, Scorpions for Breakfast," Brewer told one reporter. "I said to him that I have all the respect in the world for the office of the president." "The book is what the book is. I asked him if he read the book. He said he read the excerpt." Asked what it was about the book that disturbed him, Brewer said, "That he didn't feel that I had treated him cordially." She added, "I said I was sorry he felt that way but I didn't get my sentence finished. Anyway, we're glad he's here. I'll regroup." http://www.thebla... ---- Video: L.A. Cops Shoot a Guy Point-Blank Outside a Carl's Jr. Police officers in Monterey Park, Calif., shot and killed a man in the parking lot of a Carl's Jr. yesterday morning, and witnesses caught it on video. According to the New York Daily News, the man, who was wearing a dark hoodie, was breaking windows inside the restaurant. The video shows him coming out into the parking lot carrying what looks like a shovel or large hammer. The cops appear to taser him, which has no effect. When he seems to rear up to swing the object in his hand—but before swinging it—the two officers fire off ten shots. Five were fired while he was standing, and five after he appeared to fall to the ground (the actual shooting is obscured in the video by a parked car). According to the Daily News, five of the bullets struck the victim, who was pronounced dead later at a local hospital. http://gawker.com... ---- Pelosi Doubles Down: Gingrich Won't Be Elected — There is Something I Know Pelosi: "He's not going to be President of the United States. That's not going to happen. Let me just make my prediction and stand by it, it isn't going to happen." King: "Why are you so sure?" Pelosi: "There is something I know. The Republicans, if they choose to nominate him that's their prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen." http://michellema...

33% of GOP Voters Say It Would Be Good If New Candidate Entered Presidential Race While many pundits have taken to describing the race for the Republican nomination as a two-man competition, a third of all voters nationwide think it would be good for the GOP if someone else jumped into the fray. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 34% of Likely U.S. Voters think it would be good for Republicans if another candidate entered the race for the party's presidential nomination. http://www.rasmus... ---- See Obama's 'Spilled Milk' Joke From the SOTU Here's what he said: We've already announced over 500 reforms, and just a fraction of them will save business and citizens more than $10 billion over the next five years. We got rid of one rule from 40 years ago that could have forced some dairy farmers to spend $10,000 a year proving that they could contain a spill — because milk was somehow classified as an oil. With a rule like that, I guess it was worth crying over spilled milk. http://www.thebla... ---- Delinquent: Feds, military owe $3.4B in unpaid taxes From postal workers to congressional staffers, federal workers failed to pay billions in taxes in 2010. According to records released by the Internal Revenue Service, active and retired federal employees and military personnel combined owed $3,420,168,684 in unpaid taxes for 2010, an increase of more than 3 percent over the previous year. As has been the case in past years, the agency with employees who owe the most in unpaid taxes is the U.S. Postal Service, where 25,640 employees owe nearly $270 million. Employees in the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives owe more the $10 million. Active duty military owe more than $100 million. http://www.wtop.c... ---- 'Extinct' Galapagos Tortoise Reappears After 150 years of being "extinct," a species of giant tortoise may be on the verge of a comeback tour, scientists report. The researchers "found" the lost species, called Chelonoidis elephantopus, by analyzing the genome of a closely related species, Chelonoidis becki, which lives on Isabela Island, the largest of the Galápagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean. If the researchers can find this hidden population, they could capture individuals to set up a breeding program to regenerate the species. http://news.yahoo... ---- Video: L.A.
