Having sung for various covers bands followed by seven years as a self-contained club act, I thankfully hung up my tacky, glittery top and resolved not to undertake any other musical projects unless they involved writing my own material. I used to write and sing my own stuff in folk clubs in the 90s but somehow got sidetracked into covers projects. However, I hit an obstacle in that I couldn't find any other musicians who wanted to write their own stuff -- the covers 'trap' can be very seductive, I think. So, I decided to do it on my own and finally got into the studios to record three songs at the end of 2010, where I was fortunate to be able to draw on the talents of Matt Katz and Ben Ablewhite at Noisegate Studios, Warwick who offer a service for solo artistes. I now have five songs out on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc. and aim to complete an album by the middle of next year.
