Ariel and his family spend their summers in an idyllic Jewish country club. His grandmother is the local rummy champ and his mother teaches Israeli dances on the tennis courts. His sister Natalia wears roller skates to escape the attention of an overbearing suitor while Ariel's brother David tries to convince his girlfriend to go beyond simple kissing. Ariel bikes through the lush grounds of the club accompanied by his group of friends, all of whom are on the edge of adolescence. Everything is perfect. Or is it? Employing a variety of memorable characters and hilarious subplots, "Cara de Queso" explores the ties that bind in an Argentinean Jewish community. Focusing primarily on life at the club, director Ariel Winograd explores the clash between old traditions and new ideas. With his mop of curly hair and expressive eyes, actor Sebastián Montagna provides a soft, sensitive center to this very funny film.
