Lucy Skaer is an artist working in sculpture, photography, installation, printmaking, and film who displaces the familiar by manipulating scale and material. Her works embrace multiplicity and abstraction while questioning day-to-day perceptions and assumptions about the world. Through transformations of artifacts and architectural elements, Skaer's work re-imagines and rematerializes history, disorienting the viewer and calling into question the reliability of memory and history itself. Skaer's sculpture and works on paper create a linguistic system that merges subject and object, favoring open-ended gestures over specific references.
Born in Cambridge, England, in 1975, Skaer lives in New York. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art and has had solo exhibitions at Murray Guy, New York; the Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh; Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland; and Chisenhale Gallery, London. Skaer's work has been included in numerous international exhibitions, including the 52nd Venice Biennale, the 5th Berlin Biennale; it has also been displayed in recent group exhibitions at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and K21 Düsseldorf. Skaer was a Turner Prize finalist in 2009 and is represented by Galerie Nelson-Freeman, in Paris, and York.

President Correa will give a talk entitled "A concrete alternative from Ecuador in the midst of climate rhetoric: Yasuní-ITT." In it he will speak about Ecuador's historic decision to permanently forgo the extraction of the Yasuní-ITT oil fields as a contribution to better management of natural resources and to reduction of climate change.

Este programa; que he grabado con subtítulos en ingles, fue presentado el día domingo 6/11/2011 en Inglaterra. El objetivo de este programa es hacer que los chicos con extrema mala conducta, experimenten en otros países la manera cómo jóvenes de sus edades son criados y tratados estrictamente. Esta vez, 2 jóvenes, estuvieron en Buenos Aires, sus nombres: Byroni y Adam. Ella tiene un problema de concentracion y agresividad compulsiva lo que ha hecho que sea expulsada del colegio donde estudiaba y él no atiende el colegio sino que vive con y del bolsillo de su padre. Ambos tienen 16 años. Dejo que saquen sus propias conclusions de la manera como ciertos niños se comportan dentro y fuera de su hogar. Por favor; no generalizar, es una minoría de chicos que se comporta así, como en todas partes.

Interesante debate presentado en el programa televisivo 'Perspectiva 7' que discute con el joven Chileno Cristóbal Lagos; Secretario General de la Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Chile, las similaridades y diferencias entre los sistemas superiores educativos de Chile y Ecuador. El programa muestra una puntualizada historia del sistema educativo Chileno (calificado como inequitativo por el Sr. Lagos;) lo cual ofrece al panel invitado argumento suficiente para presentar, patrocinar y hasta abordar la NUEVA Ley de Educación Intercultural del Ecuador. El tema central del programa es priorizar las estrategias a seguir para alcanzar una educación equitativa y de calidad en ambos países.
