About Cairokee

Cairo-Kee, the name is aspired from both the words Cairo and karaoke which means singing along with Cairo. The band first, started by the name The Black star which means the unseen star, where they used to play English covers. But the band was seriously formed in the year 2003, ever since the band has performed live in various places. The idea of playing music and performing live was a childhood dream for all the members of the band.

Cairokee, the name is inspired by the words "Cairo" and "karaoke", conveying the message of singing along with Cairo. Cairokee was formed in the year 2003. Although the band members started playing at an older age, the idea of playing music and performing live was a childhood dream for all the members of the band.  The dream was brought to life when Amir (vocal) and Hawary (guitarist) started singing in Arabic out of humor while jamming in the streets of Cairo one day. They soon realized that they had a great opportunity ahead, taking it to the next level and going Arabic all the way, it being their mother tongue, while blending it with the Rock influences they have grown to love and admire. This created quite an exotic and engaging form of music. Later, Tamer on drums, Chris on the keyboards, and Yamen on Bass joined them. The band members continued to change until it reached its final order today with Amir Eid as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Sherif El Hawary on the lead guitar, Tamer Hashem on the drums, Sherif Mostafa on the keyboards and Adam El Alfy (Bass). Their associate Ahmed Bahaa (oriental percussions) joined them occasionally adding a twist of flavor to their music and performances.
The journey and evolution of CairoKee as a band has not been easy, and it still extends from here, but one thing is certain, that it was absolutely worth it!
