Cabrini Green Legal Aid enjoys a rich tradition. Launched in 1973 by LaSalle Street Church in response to community need, CGLA is the nation's first and largest faith-inspired legal aid organization. We provide free legal representation to low-income Chicagoans from every neighborhood in four distinct areas of law: family, housing, criminal defense, and clearing of criminal records.

We provide both a safety net when our clients are facing a legal crisis and professional social service support so that our clients are able to take the momentum of a legal victory and create positive change in their lives. We measure success not by the number of cases we handle each year, but by the long-term positive impact of our work on family stability, affordable housing, employment, and recidivism rates.
