Fake Scots Titles scam! The land register of Scotland does not recognise ownership of such small parcels of land, so in fact they don't even 'own' the square foot or so that they paid for.
'Laird' is not a 'title'. It is a 'designation' under the 'Court of the Lord Lyon in Scotland' (The Queen's representative in Scotland and the Law on these matters).
No more than one person can bear the same 'designation' and anyone who tries to obtain services by 'fraud' (if you try to hire a car for example under a fake designation) can be fined and or imprisoned.
It is against the law in Scotland to bear fake Arms, which is what these 'insignia' are. This is also punishable by a fine or imprisonment!
People who 'buy' these are being lied to by companies eager to part people with their money who are ignorant of the Law! However as we know, in Law, ignorance is no defense.
