It kind of reminds me of people who work in slaughterhouses; after awhile you become completely immune to the violence and cruelty follows very easily after this because of the fact that they've become so desensitized to the violence; they simply see it as doing their job and doing it well.

@GenieMB1 While you make some points, the AIM-7C performed better than the AIM-4's in regards to their use against bombers in terms of both accuracy and range.
It additionally had a much greater practicality against fighters to boot.
