The CSS COIL CARRIER - The Concept
Sheet metal, wire and many other goods are stored and transported in the form of coils, i.e. wound into rolls. Transport and storage is extremely costly: special semi-trailers are needed to transport the coils by truck, or else they are carried standing or lying on disposable wooden pallets on standard flatbed trucks.
Coils are also transported by rail on special through-type coil cars, standing or lying on disposable pallets. When transported by ship or via inland waterways, the goods are stacked in the shape of pyramids and secured with beams or other aids to prevent them from shifting. This applies similarly to transport by air.
The CSS COIL CARRIER ensures that coils can be transported both internally and on all means of transport in a stackable and positive-locking form.
The CSS COIL CARRIER can be adjusted to all types of round and oval materials - whether these be light, non-stackable materials (lightweight coil carriers) or for materials weighing several tons that can only be transported by rail or ship. Its combinability and positive-locking capability also guarantees optimum and regulation-compliant axle load and freight load distribution in compliance with statutory regulations.
Damage to the material is prevented as the goods are protected in the frame against external damage. Also, because the coils are kept in a standing position while being transported they do not need to be rotated, resulting in further savings in time and costs. Intermediate struts inside the CSS COIL CARRIER (optional extra) enable the goods to be fully utilised and partially unloaded in the CSS COIL CARRIER. This also allows the FIFO principle (first-in, first-out) to be realised.
We have patented the CSS COIL CARRIER, from the size of a desktop utensil to container dimensions. Like lattice boxes, racks and containers in circulation, it enables (transport and storage) space requirements to be reduced to a minimum. Ideally, a coil remains within the CSS COIL CARRIER throughout the entire logistics chain, from the manufacturer to the final-processing plant.
Transportation becomes clearer, more accident-proof, positive-locking and stackable. The coils are therefore general cargo capable, i.e. they can be combined with other stored goods and freight. Loading and unloading times then become easy to calculate.
