He Was Introduced To Different Genres Of Music At An Early Age. His Mother Used To Break Dance So He Particularly Took a Liking to Hip Hop. He Was Also Influenced By Older Guys His Neighbourhood Who He Would Hear Free-Styling. "I Became Known As The "Hook Man" When I Was Younger Because I Usually Came Out With Some Clever Lines. That's When I Started Doing A Lot Of Writing And Creating Songs," Says Key$. "We Even Formed A Group Called "Throwback" And At One Point Signed A Management Deal. Although It Didn't Develop Into What I Think We Were All Hoping, I Saw A Bigger Picture And I Was Determined To Make It Real. When I Brainstorm New Ideas, I Want To See It Come To Life," He Explains Confidently.
Dedicated To Pursuing A Career In Music, Key$ Began Educating Himself On The Music Business. He And A Friend Launched A DVD Magazine Titled SPIT; Street Politics Is Tomorrow, In 2004. Shortly After, He Was Then Introduced To The Owner Of Swagg, An Urban News Magazine. Open To Collaborating Efforts, He Conducted Interviews With Many Different Artists Who Also Personally Shared Their Experiences And Insights On The Industry; Artists Such As JR Writer.
The Ball Was Rolling & It Seemed To Be Headed In A Good Direction, But You Can't Have The Good Without The Bad. He's Lost Family, Friends And Time, After Having Been Incarcerated For 3 Years.
After Being Released In 2007, He's Had A New Sense Of Urgency Towards His Goals. He Aligned Himself With Childhood Friends, AFM And Reps Up. With The New Hype Surrounding The Mix-Tape Circuit, He Was Featured On The Stay Solid Mix-Tape Released By Gillateen. Loyal To His Friends But Even More So To Himself, He Established A Production Company/Label Called Breakfast Club Boys (BCB). It Is A Representation Of Who He Is And What He Stands For: Being Motivated To Achieve The Things You See For Yourself And Not Wasting Time In Doing So "Eating Early" As He Puts It. "I Respect Other Canadian Artists For Their Hustle, But I Feel There Is an Open Lane For Me. Right Now I'm packing The Snowball, Getting Ready to Push It down the Hill and Watch It Build from There."
