Founded in October 1988 by Kathleen Schneider, the Children's Museum of the Arts is one of the oldest children's art museums in the world. In October of 2011, CMA moved to a new 10,000 sq foot space at 103 Charlton Street. The new space will mean thousands more families will have access to the arts each year. Our audience will continue to reflect the rich diversity that makes NYC special. The extra space will also allow us to expand our programs and create new, innovative ways to approach arts education for young artists ages one to 15.
103 Charlton now features:
- a 2,000 sq. foot gallery
- a state of the art media lab & soundbooth
- a clay bar
-multiple art studios
-a lofted ball pond
-dedicated room for kids 5 and under
-quiet room for down time
