This is the first segment I completed for Body Flight Two. The music is "The Cat" by Randy Rush. Featured fliers in order of appearance are: Phil Henderson, John Suiter, Tina McCoy, and Chris Landon. Featured wind tunnels in order of appearance: The Airodium in Zurich, Fly Away in Pigeon Forge, Sky Venture in Orlando, The Flight Dynamics Laboratory in Dayton, The Matos Facility in Fayetville, and Appalachian Amusement Center in Waynesville. The helmet shots are mine. In the early 2000's I was visiting as many Vertical Wind Tunnels as I could. I wanted to see how they compared. I was doing research for The Vertical Wind Tunnel Directory http://www.vertic... , and shooting video for Body Flight http://www.vertic... , and later for Body Flight Two. Unfortunately I never sold enough copies of Body Flight to pay for even one of these trips. Now it seems unlikely I will ever complete Body Flight Two. So I am showing this to promote the sport.

Here you see a young bear caught on security video as he departs Appalachian Amusement Center. The gate had just been locked open for the day as we opened for the public.

When Nitro Circus visited Appalachian Amusement Center on 6-20-2009 to shoot for Season 2, Episode 4, there was a lot of great flying that didn't make it onto the show. Here are some highlights from my perspective. This is the second of two parts. Here you will see Travis Pastrana set a world height record for flight in a vertical wind tunnel when he steps out of the man-basket into the wind 80 feet above the net (87 feet above the machine). You can see these people are not falling down into the wind, they are steping out into it and then flying down through it to a safe height. What makes this really amazing is that it was an extremely gusty afternoon and yet you can see the wind was very consistent with little turbulence even at extreme height. The height was measured and set with a laser rangefinder from laying down under the basket looking up at it.
