The Back of the Class

This message is for the feminist apologists who fall back onto the dictionary definition of feminism when questioned about their self proclomation and promotional mantra of "This is what a feminist looks like." Your beliefs are admirable; commendable even. There is no doubt in my mind that you are probably a decent and loving individual in your day-to-day life. What you claim, however, has absolutely no basis in reality for professional feminists. You know, the ones shaping legislation like VAWA and working for NOW. Perhaps you are unaware, but *these* feminists claim to represent YOU. Since they are the largest and most influential political force under the banner of feminism, your dictionary definition is, in reality, the antithesis of the overwhelming evidence of what the practice of feminism actually encompasses. You might backpedal and claim that "not all feminists are like that." The ones practicing what *they* call feminism on a large, organized and incredibly influential scale are actually working towards nothing at all like what you describe. Call yourself an egalitarian if what you preach is in fact what you really practice. You are associating yourself with them by branding yourself with the word "feminist." They are a staggering and overwhelming majority compared to you. So much so, that if you counter by claiming that they are not really true feminists, it begs the question......How does it feel to be the only "real" feminist on the planet?
