i'm a class. gender is one of the main organizing principles but why does it have to be the first question asked after my name? why is this more important than other aspects of one's personhood on these sites? the subtext seems to suggest this is about hooking up in one way or another. in a hetero and/or homo normative manner. that's just silly. even oprah has moved on from thinking there are only two options for gender identification and has managed to recognize transgendered and intersexed folks on her show. where's the trickle down factor?
