I'm a CCTV specialist with 22 years experience.
Unfortunately my profession has a poor reputation due to a significant amount of poor quality footage being produced from video surveillance systems.
Sometimes this is due to the installation or hardware being of poor quality and other time the clients expectations are unrealistic (influenced by TV CSI shows) or not well communicated. Either way, the end user is not happy with the results and the CCTV industry receives a bad rap.
I make it my business to educate the market how to get better results with every opportunity I get.
One tool I use is A website on CCTV design, which provides completely free tips and advice on CCTV, without being brand specific.
This allows anyone to contribute questions and answers about how to get the most from your CCTV system.
Currently I am writing an article specifically about security in the retail sector and what is required to convict shoplifters.
