The situation for mothers in Tanzania is harrowing—nearly one mother dies every hour from birth-related complications. Even the most basic medical care is hard to come by. Health clinics are scarce. Distances are long. And doctors and nurses are overwhelmed by so many mothers needing attention. Many women can't afford care... can't walk the distance to the next clinic... and face health issues so critical that the wait might literally kill them.
CARE Canada staff are on the ground in the Tabora region of Tanzania right now — teaming up with health care workers and volunteers so that women can better care for themselves and their expected sons and daughters... so that health issues are identified early... and so that medical care and equipment is accessible to women across the region.
