We are the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Corsair Sponsor Group and operate and maintain the CAF FG-1D Corsair (the Goodyear equivalent of the Chance Vought F4U-1D).

The Corsair is currently based with Chris Avery (one of the Corsair's display pilots), at the CAF's Dixie Wing, Peachtree City-Falcon Field airport, GA. (in Atlanta's south west).

Our Corsair rolled off Goodyear's Akron, OH. production line in July 1945 and is one of less than 40 airworthy examples remaining of this type now flying in the world, from the original 12,571 Corsairs built. The last Corsair was built in 1952 after a 12 year production run, the longest of any piston-engined fighter.

Our Corsair participates in airshows, and on documentary and film projects, in addition to the popular U.S. Navy Legacy Flight program throughout the year.

The Corsair had numerous nicknames, among them "Angel of Okinawa", "Bent Wing Bird", "Hose Nose", and "Ensign Eliminator", and forever will be fondly remembered as the 'Baa Baa Blacksheep (aka. Blacksheep Squadron)' plane, since being immortalized in the popular 1970s television series starring Robert Conrad.

Please visit our website (new site currently under construction) and join us on a journey of discovery of this amazing fighter.
