Roderick Stewart's first chart-topper - the excellent "Maggie May" - was @ number one in the charts exactly 40 years ago this week, in October 1971. I have been a great fan of Stewarty's music ever since I was a young lad of twelve or thirteen, growing up in Norwich. However, I cannot remember the time when "Maggie May" was the number one sound across the nation, as I was only six in 1971.
With regard to the comment made by a guy called "lerlacher303", I have always thought that Rod Stewart is a much nicer man that he is made out to be - by the press, etc.

Poor Rod at the signing Video. They tell him look this way, look that way, do this, do that. He takes it all so well too. Truly a NICE GUY!!! :)
