Upon experiencing his first taste of popular music when he was 6 years old (a mix tape from his cousin including Alanis Morrissette, The Pet Shop Boys and Kylie), James Butchers knew music was what he wanted to do. After years of playing air guitar on bunk beds and writing 2 chord songs to impress his friends, this ambition of musicianship had been firmly compounded. The journey had begun.
Years later James Butchers is an accomplished musician. He is a fluent jazz guitarist and has achieved much acclaim for his brand of pop/folk songwriting. In early 2006 he recorded an album length demo featuring 12 songs and subsequently got a myspace to shamelessly plug his music.
Likened to such a courageous bunch of musicians as Bob Dylan, Midnight Oil and even Metallica, James Butchers draws upon a diverse range of influences. He resents this, saying that his style is the result of his own creative genius and that these artists sound like him, not the other way around. The pending court decision will settle that.
In the mean time James Butchers intends on playing his whimsical brand of pop folk for all that will listen, hoping to make not only a quick buck but a few friends along the way.
