Without evidence or due process, the Bulgarian military commander authorised the summary execution of 25 Macedonian villagers, as a response to the death of 14 Bulgarian soldiers. It would appear that the Bulgarian Nazi racial conversion system regarded one ethnic Bulgarian as being worth approximately two ethnic Macedonians. This raises doubts about the sincerity of Bulgarian claims that Macedonians are their brothers.

It should be noted that Bulgaria's determination in its genocidal campaign against the Macedonian people was fuelled partly by the unshakable belief that the Nazis would win the Second World War. Bulgarian Nazis were convinced that a Nazi victory would guarantee that there would be no consequences in relation to Bulgaria's crimes against humanity.

The wholesale murder of these Macedonian villagers from the village of Lavtsi is a factual event which, like many similar acts of Bulgarian genocide in Macedonia, remains unreported in Bulgarian history textbooks today. Bulgarian historical revisionists deny that Bulgaria committed any such acts of genocide in Macedonia. In fact, Bulgarian historians even have the audacity to argue that Bulgarians "liberated" Macedonia during World War II.

The fact that Bulgaria illegally occupied Macedonia and terrorised Macedonians during World War II is internationally accepted in all credible academic circles. To this day Bulgaria has not formally apologised to Macedonia or its people for the Bulgarian-initiated crimes against humanity in Macedonia. Bulgarian historians and academics still insist that Bulgaria "liberated" Macedonia during WWII. In doing so Bulgaria is demonstrating that it feels no remorse for its participation in the Holocaust and Bulgarian crimes against humanity in Macedonia.
