Waylon did this with the Kimberlys a Las Vegas group in 1969 and received a Grammy for it. A number of years later he did this version thus its called MacArthur Park Revisited. Both were great in their own ways.

I saw Waylon around the time and this song was out on the Lonesome, Onery and Mean Album. As I recall it would be 1972 or so that would have made Waylon about 35 years old here. It also was just about when he got creative control of his recordings and he began to thrive as an artist.
