About this user

I started as the boy who drew funny pictures of the teacher at school, which always got me in trouble. ..hey, somebody had to do it! Now when I appear at schools, to demonstrate the art of cartooning, the first thing I am asked to do is draw the teacher..and I get applause...even from the teacher!

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I grew up playing piano and organ in rock bands and then played professionally.

I created and hosted a Television Series for Public TV, "Cartooning with Blitz" and was fortunate to be rewarded with four Emmy-nominations, one of which was for my music that I created for the series! As the host of these 104 episodes, I demonstrated how to turn simple shapes into finished cartoons, drew cartoons at exotic locations and got the chance to interview celebrity guest cartoonists who were heroes of mine while growing up.

I've written art instruction books, produced DVDs, created How to Draw kits, was on The Joan Rivers Show and appeared on The QVC Shopping Network over 40 times where I sold my line of art products.

Recently, I have completed 95 new TV shows for Comcast on Demands kid show Activity TV. I own and operate 2 cartoon portrait concession stands at Citizens Bank Park, the home of The Philadelphia Phillies!

All of this because, just like when I was a kid...I can't stop doodling!!!!
