About this user
I like to discuss and debate doctrine with ministers of all denominations.
Today there are 35,000 Christian denominations with countless variations in their beliefs and practices. Rather than discussing modern denominations, it is best to go to the Word.
The church was born 31 AD on the day of Pentecost with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God makes it abundantly clear that the Apostles and the followers of Christ were 'in one accord'. In other words, the Apostles were in agreement concerning all manners of doctrines. The only division that can be seen in the Biblical church is the temporary cultural division between Jews and Gentiles. So what did the Apostles teach?
Peter's sermon on the day of Pentecost, found in Acts chapter 2 outlines the teachings of the Apostles, the same Apostles commissioned by Jesus Christ.
So what did the Apostles teach concerning salvation?
Acts 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Were there divisions in doctrine among the Apostles after Pentecost? Decades later, Paul answers this question in a letter to the Christians in Ephesus.
Ephesians 4:4-5: There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
Today we have 25,000 denominations, but Jesus said that he would return for a blameless bride (church), without spot or wrinkle. The Great Tribulation will purge the church of all uncleanliness, from ol' fashioned sin to man-made traditions.
Matthew 24:13: But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved
The church started with one Lord, one faith, and one baptism and so shall it end.
