Anybody who ever doubted Kubrick's genius just needs to know he personally selected this for Full Metal Jacket. I can't think of another track that would have captured the same effect and absolutely counterpointed the difference between G. I. America and South East Asia.

The great thing about genius is its uniqueness. My father this played this to me in 1957 and 54 years later it is just as funny. Hofnung's comic timing is exemplary - a simple piece of writing turned into a comic tour de force. You can't beat live performance.

Spike Jones was a genius - nothing like it since.
