Ladies and Gentlemen of the House:I am writing to you today in regards of the Affordable Health Choices Act.
As a fifteen year old student, I am concerned about the path my nation takes as I will be in the generation who will have to pay for current choices. As a Believer, I would like to ask all of you to please consider this bill carefully with prayer.
This bill does nothing more than make a top heavy government. What I mean is that the more you pile on the governments shoulders, the easier it is to collapse the government. It seems to me that we should be more concerned about the greed of the drug companies and the insurance companies making the prices sky high and the coverage very low than giving more needless issues to the workload of an already overloaded government.
God did not call the government to take over every detail of life, instead He led our Founding Fathers to put in a system of checks and balances to prevent the development of big government. Some details in life should be left to the everyday American citizen.
The Founding Fathers prayed continually and worked tirelessly on a new form of government that guaranteed us freedom. Courageous men fearlessly fought tyranny and paid for freedom with their own blood. I believe the early Americans would have been mortified at the state of our country now.
Yes, I do understand that for any people, a governing body is required, but when they forsake their true jobs and stick their noses in business that is not theirs, it becomes a problem. How have we gotten so far from a For the people, by the people government and so close to a socialist nation? We were founded as a republic, with a constitution to protect our rights from anyone wishing to take over, whether it be a party or a single individual.
Speaking of which, doesnt this bill make government health care mandatory for Americans? The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. Those are the exact words stated in the amendments to the constitution. And as the Declaration of Independence says, We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain, unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such a form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Why is it that some officials seem to not even know the constitution of the nation whom they work for?
I am writing to point out that you have not had enough time to truly consider and prayerfully discuss this bill before being forced to count the votes.
How can anyone, no matter how seasoned a government official, read and fully understand a 2,000 page bill in such a short time?
My generation will be already paying for past government debt but now we find our government increasing their spending when we cannot afford the debt already incurred.
I mean no disrespect but why are we all asleep and sit by doing nothing while we lose our nation? I dont know if any of you have children, but consider that they, as well as the rest of us in the coming generation, will be the ones to pay the price for both thoughtless and intentional mistakes.
I urge you to pray for guidance, demand more time to consider the bill, and to consider that you can change the outcome of our future. The future of a nation is its children; please do not throw all of the hard work of past generations, and the freedom of our future, to waste.
