I use to live it up. Golf was my outdoor game 2 times a week and WoW was my indoor game any night I didn't work. I use to bird hunt, and fish on a regular basis. I love night life also. I loved my career as a Respiratory Therapist and miss work the most.It all came to a sudden halt what seemed to be overnight. I started having Glaucoma issues with my r eye in 07 within in a few months I had a shunt.(drain tube) placed into my eye 4/08 after that healed I fealt ok besides the vision issues. Then the end of 11/08- beginning of 12/08 things started to change. I was given the run a round and after losing 38 pounds in a month was in and out of every doc and ER around. The chest pains, funny heart rates, swollen joints, uveitis, dyspagia, headaches, body aches and pain, and fear of impending doom. I was admitted to my own hospital for 6 days then again less than a week later for 11 days. They could not figure me out so they told me I was maybe crazy, depressed, or anxious. Well ya duh after being "normal" then sick with no answers it makes you this way on top of things. These docs were my own friends telling me this crap. Anxiety doesnt make your ankle swell up 3 times normal size and cause uvetis in your eye. Long story short I eneded up going to the Mayo ER wich in time got me into the mayo system. I was then told by a Rheumy that I had Wegener's Vasculitis and I may die from it. I then was admitted to the Mayo hospital in Scottsdale. I spent a week in there having a ton of test and images done on me. On the fith day they came into my room and said hey we made a mistake your 2nd set of labs are negative and your nasal biopsy is too. Now I knew from being in the med field that this was BS. One pos lab and one neg lab does not = neg. I was sent on my way with no treatment or any plan and told I can not return to the Rheumotologist that seen me at the Mayo clinic because he was a Diagnosing doc and not a treating doc. Then come to find out the way of the Mayo sytem this is how they roll. I ended up within a few weeks getting a Open Lung Biopsy done in Las Vegas and it was a disaster of a time. Almost 3rd world care. On my return home from that trip we received a phone call and a packet of mail from the Mayo hospital saying Sorry but we have change the way we do lab test for Vasculitis and on further research we feel you may be Pos for Vasculitis. "Your labs were reran from original two blood samples and we have found them both positive. This doesnt mean you are but we feel these labs along with other clinical findings that it would be in your best interest to seek medical advise from your primar care. WTF they were my primary care! I was sent there because my primary care had no idea and was handed off to them because they new. This was becoming all so overwhelming for my family. We were slowly losing everything we owned and had saved. More of the long story short I ended up spending 4 weeks in another hospital and had a pulmonologist decide I needed higher lvl of care. I was flown in a Air Ambulance from Northern AZ to Baltimore MD Johns Hopkins Hospital. Everyone though this was the answer and I would get the care I needed. It was far from the truth. They tried to send me back on the 2nd day because I had been on prednisone and Cytoxin and they said they needed that out of system fro 30 days before they could trust their own labs and they refused to trust others. WTF They excepted me as a transfer patient knowing what meds I was on and my history. After my wife laid into them and we fought with the insurance they did not send me home after 2 days. I ended up there for 4 weeks in the dirtiest hospital you have ever seen. It was like being in the Twilight Zone. Thet tried to keep Everything a secret from us. The place was filthy (I have pics) All the docs were rude and treate me as a number. Thing ran at a slow pace and nothing happens on a weekend there. Not even a routine xray or lab unless it's ordered STAT. It was a very strange time. I had a muscle biopsy then was told you have somthing wrong then was told no you dont....to be continued
