@27dedrummer straigh ahead, as in straight ahead jazz, meaning the basis is the swing ride pattern used in jazz standards, as opposed to a fusion or latin jazz style.

2:33 through 2:55 is really intense.

@TMNoob3 that's if you want to play 9/8 as six eight with three pulses instead of two. some would argue that 12/8 should be 1, 3, 7, and 10, but you could do 1, 3, 5, 8, 10 to get a different feel. It just depends on what you're structuring the beat over.

@TBMsGuitarGod Time signature changes are much more progressive than key signature changes. The whole song's in 4/4, common time. It's good, better than a lot of the rabble on youtube, just really not that progressive.

the reason it sounds so bad is because the last 32 bars the same chord. that drummer is great and knowing when to stop during a solo though, the most intense moments were when he came back in after the pauses. also, that guitar player is horrible, he's really what's destroying the groove.

i believe you mean dissonant. counterpoint is creating an adjunct harmony to a melody. you can use thirds, fifths, sixths, and octaves, and if you want to break the rules of traditional counter point you can use seconds and sevenths ttoo. PDA is the best example of Interpol's coun...
