On Day 9 record numbers of Londoners poured into Trafalgar Square to enjoy London Moves Me, a series of free transport related films from the BFI National Archive. At the Filmmakers tea, the creators of Mugabe and the White African, Lucy Bailey and Andrew Thompson, talked about the difficulties involved with the shooting of the film. Back in the West End, we spoke to the creative team behind Kicks, including director Lindy Heymann. We also caught up with the acclaimed director of Chloe, Atom Egoyan, and stars Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried.

Day 8 of the Festival saw another wide range of filmmakers share their insights, from Michael Haneke (The White Ribbon) at his afternoon press conference, to Penny Woolcock at the screening of her latest film 1 Day. At the Southbank, Snipping the Celluloid Ceiling, hosted by The Script Factory's Briony Hanson, looked at the achievements of female filmmakers, who included Finola Dwyarer (producer of An Education), Jan Chapman (producer of Bright Star), Xiaolu Guo (writer-director of She, a Chinese), Lindy Heymann (director of Kicks) and Lisa Cortes (Producer of Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire). Back in the West End, it was all about the boys however, with the MOFILM gala of The Boys are Back, where we spoke to stars Clive Owen and George MacKay, and director Scott Hicks. We also talked to the creative team behind the much anticipated The Scouting Book for Boys, including producer Ivana MacKinnon, director Tom Harper, writer Jack Thorne, and star Thomas 'Tomo' Turgoose.

Day 7 of the Festival brought some heavy hitting subject matter, with Robert Connolly and Anthony LaPaglia, director and star of Balibo respectively, in attendance at a Filmmakers Tea to discuss their story of journalists missing in East Timor. At a powerful screening of Jez Lewis' debut film Shed Your Tears and Walk Away, a documentary on substance abuse and abusers in Hebden Bridge, main subject Cass was on hand to answer audience questions. Finally the red carpet was teeming with talent at the Mastercard Gala of An Education, where we spoke to Lone Scherfig, Emma Thompson, Carey Mullighan and Nick Hornby.

Day 6 of the Festival saw Boris Johnson attend the Centrepiece Gala for the period film Bright Star, based on the life of Keats, where we spoke to director Jane Campion and stars Ben Whishaw, Kerry Fox, and Antonia Campbell-Hughes. At the Southbank Sarah Turner spoke about her newest work Perestroika, exploring memory and 'psycho-geography'. Stephen Soderbergh also waxed lyrical about the UK fim community at his screening of The Informant, also attended by writer Scott Burns and producer Gregory Jacobs.

On Day 5 of the Festival we spoke to the director of From Time to Time, Julian Fellowes, and the French director of MICMACS, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, at their West End screenings. Emily Watson told us about working with Paul Giamatti in her new film Cold Souls, and acclaimed Production Designers Andrew McAlpine and Eugenio Caballero gave insight into their profession at Stylish By Design, an event co-hosted by The Times BFI London Film Festival and BAFTA. Finally, at the American Airlines Gala screening of Up in the Air, host Jason Solomons spoke to director Jason Reitman, and actors Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga on the stewardess strewn red carpet.
