The British Council connects people worldwide with learning opportunities from the UK and builds lasting relationships between the UK and other countries.

The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. The headquarters of the British Council in India is in New Delhi with offices in Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai. The British Council also runs British Libraries in co-operation with the India Council for Cultural Relations in five other Indian cities - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Pune.
