Violent crime can happen to anyone, anyplace and at anytime. The most effective personal defense tool is the firearm. A firearm gives trained law abiding citizens the best chance to stop a violent lethal threat.

One of the best things you can do to protect yourself from violent crime is to be aware of your surroundings. Pay attention to who and what is going on around you. You need to be especially alert after dark or when walking alone.

You must also learn to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Just because you have a firearm, Taser or Pepper spray, doesn't mean you can put yourself in dangerous situations. Personal defense tools are no substitute for common sense and good judgment.

I also recommend gun owners and civilians carry proven less than lethal options with them at all times.

OC Spray

By far the fastest acting and most effective OC spray available to both civilians and law enforcement is the Fox Labs 5.3 OC spray. Fox Labs contains the most refined OC resin with the highest heat rating and fast acting carrier for the absolute best OC spray.

What most manufacturers don't tell consumers is there is a lot more to the effectiveness of OC spray than how much Capsaicinoids or heat is in the formula. The carriers and delivery system are also very important. The reason why other product's don't work as well is because they are using up to 15% Oleoresin (Oil of the pepper) and they use less pure lower grade resins. Pepper Sprays that are greater than 6% Oleoresin Capsicum concentration don't atomize very well and they are slower acting and less effective. Another persistent problem with most brands is slower acting carriers. What good is your 10% OC Spray @ 1.33% major Capsaicinoids going to be if it is mixed with 60% water and other inert ingredients that actually slow down how fast the formula can work? The most important factor of an OC spray is how quickly it stops the threat. Fox works so well because it has a low concentration of Oil (less dirt and waxes inactive ingredients), a higher grade/higher refined resin, and a powerful carrier that strips the oils off the skins surface exposing the nerve endings on contact. I have tested a lot of different brands and formulas. If my life was in danger and all I had was an OC spray I would want it to be a 2,3, or 4 ounce Fox 5.3 Flip Top Cone spray. If more retailers would do their own testing and ignore a lot of the marketing hype by other companies, every store would sell Fox 5.3. It works that well! I know. I am OC certified and have been contaminated with numerous formulas and this stuff is the most effective but more importantly the fastest acting. Also other manufacturers sell less effective models to consumers. Not Fox Labs. You can get a potent duty grade aerosol direct from Fox. That is why I use Fox Labs products.

I prefer the Fox Labs 5.3 2 ounce Cone Fog spray. This canister is only 1 ¾ inches in diameter and 4 inches in height. This is a medium size canister that is easy to carry every day. You may also feel comfortable carrying the 3 or 4 ounce sized canister. I carry a 4 ounce Fox 5.3 Cone Fog spray during the winter months. If you are a female with a purse you should have no problems carrying a 4 ounce size unit. You should carry the largest size that is comfortable for you to carry.
