About Saint John's Health Center
The Brain Tumor Center (BTC), Pituitary Disorders and Neuroscience Programs at Saint John's Health Center provide comprehensive care and minimally invasive surgery for patients with brain, pituitary and skull base tumors, including both benign and malignant brain tumors, skull base tumors, pituitary adenomas, spinal cord tumors and neurovascular disorders. At the BTC, we incorporate cutting edge technology with a proven track record in these approaches to make surgery safer, less invasive and more effective.
Our BTC YouTube channel provides a visual display of minimally invasive endoscopic and keyhole surgical approaches to a variety of tumors. Given advances in surgical instrumentation, and endoscopy (providing a panoramic view of the intracranial space), many if not most tumors can now be removed via a "keyhole" approach.
These approaches aim to maximize tumor removal and minimize brain manipulation while promoting a rapid, less painful recovery. Such approaches include the endonasal endoscopic route (through the nostrils), the supra-orbital route (through the eyebrow), the retro-mastoid route (behind the ear), as well as other keyhole approaches. In some patients, more traditional, larger openings may be required.
For more information or an appointment with one of our specialists in Neurosurgery, Head & Neck Surgery, Endocrinology, Oncology, Radiation-Oncology or Neuro-Ophthalmology, go to www.brain-tumor.org or call 310-582-7450.
