Blue are not interested in WINNING the contest. They are interested in telling Europe "We're back, buy our album" which is what the song is about.
The BBC don't want them to win because of the cost.

I hate to tell you this but he is NOT playing the violin live. Eurovision rules state that all instruments must be mimed to a backing track. Only the singing is live.
