The song "Boston (Hub of My Heart)" is a salute to the city of Boston. Words and music were written by trumpeter, vocalist, composer Johnny Souza who also performs the song.
The song about Boston was originally released on Souza's Boston themed CD called "Meet Me in the City." The song has received radio airplay and has been featured at Fenway Park! Johnny has also performed the song live at many venues in Boston including Symphony Hall, and at political events including an event for Governor Mitt Romney and at corporate and charitable events. Most recently Johnny performed at the annual fundraiser for Rosie's Place.

Johnny Souza's "Meet Me in the City" CD includes his other Boston themed compositions Meet Me in the City and his original instrumentals Big Dig Blues, Back Bay Bossa and Tea Party featuring Greg Abate on flute.
Johnny's Meet Me in the City Boston themed CD features renowned Berklee Professor Ray Santisi on piano along with accomplished musicians Barry Smith on bass and Gene Roma on drums. Souza's son Johnny Souza lll performs the trumpet solo on Boston Hub of My Heart and his daughter Leah is featured with him on a duet of Horace Silver's Song For My Father as well as the background vocals on the song Meet Me in the City. Greg Abate is featured on saxophone and flute throughout the CD.
Johnny Souza is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music where he majored in music performance and studied with instructors including: John LaPorta, Wes Hensel and Mike Metheny.
Johnny performs at political, corporate and charitable events as well as jazz and concert venues throughout New England.

When not performing jazz he performs a classic, standard repertoire similar to the styles of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darrin, Harry Connick Jr, Louis Armstrong and Chet Baker.
Johnny has released two CD's comprised of jazz standards along with Johnny's original compositions.These recordings have received a high level of airplay on radio across the country.

Johnny also writes a monthly jazz column which is published in a number of newspapers in eastern Massachusetts.
Souza's daughter Leah Souza is an acclaimed jazz vocalist with her own band that performs at top jazz venues in New England - The Leah Souza Quintet and Souza's son, Johnny Souza III is the featured solo trumpeter with the very popular New England Jam Band 3rd Left (Johnny Souza III is also a freelance trumpeter with many other bands.)
