Born Free USA is a national nonprofit animal protection and wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the suffering of wild animals in captivity, rescue individual animals in need, protect wildlife — including highly endangered species — in their natural habitats, and encourage compassionate conservation globally.

Our primary work includes advocating for animals used in entertainment, being the voice for captive exotic animals, working to end trapping and the use of fur in fashion, and stopping the international wildlife trade.

We also own and operate the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary, a 186-acre site in Texas where we provide safe haven for more than 600 primates, many of whom were rescued from abusive situations in laboratories, roadside zoos and private possession. Our sanctuary is unique in that we let the monkeys live in as natural an environment as is possible with minimal human interference so they live as free as they can be.

Captive Exotic Animal Attacks Play

Find out how many attacks happen in your state, look up a captive-animal facility near you or search by state or species with Born Free USA's Exotic Animal Incident database: http://www.bornfreeusa.org/database/exo_incidents.php. Then help us work to end the use of captive animals in entertainment or as "pets" so no one else gets hurt or worse. WARNING: Some disturbing footage.
