What you'll be viewing, was a very long process indeed. This video of "TICKET TO RIDE" was shot in the Austrian Alps in 1969, but later had it's audio track redubed with the updated & brighter 'remixed version' of 1975. I respect Mr. Carpenter's decision to do so, for surely it is his great masterpiece, however my only endeavor here was to recreate an image in my own mind, of what dear Karen was listening to, being amplified through the audio P.A. during the filming process that day, high above on the Alps...and that had to be the "very-organic-sounding" original mix, that was presented on the first pressings of "THE OFFERING" phonograph album by A&M Records in 1969. I worked with a couple of different video engineers to make this happen, both being scrupulously careful to keep the synchronization, cadence & timing "spot-on" throughout the restoration...I believe we humbly 'hit-the-mark'. But, YOU...the viewer...will be the judge of that. A special thanks to Michael Stephens of NewLand Media, Los Angeles, CA for having the patience it took to work with me, to restore such a beautiful piece, that Richard carefully & strategically constructed...and Karen lovingly gave her heart to. - Anthony Ochoa/BolsaChicaRadio; January 2012.

Thanks very much to Mr. BolsaChica for providing detailed information about the recording of this song below. He wrote "The story goes, as Bill & Tom Howard were recording the Psalms Alive III album, (yes! ...record album & cassette...NO CD, at the time of early '86, when it was originally released...!) Bill played acoustic guitars & bass guitar on the tracks, Howard the grand pianos, of course (listen to "To Those Who Sow In Tears" and the Prelude just before it...INCREDIBLE piano work from Howard! BTW, the lead vocal you hear on "TEARS", is from the great Bob Bennett!) ...friend Smitty Price on those mid-80's, crazy sounding synthesizers and Maranatha! Music art director, Alex MacDougall on the live percussions, congas, shakers & splash cymbals. (Note: Bill & Tom Howard "tried" to solely use digital drum machine programs instead of hiring a "LIVE" drummer to perform...but the ending result was WAY TOO sterile & robotic sounding...and for a Praise & Worship album...NO CAN DO! So, when it came time to mixdown the final audio tracks, session drummers Dave Spurr & John Mehler brought in, just their tom-tom drums, and recorded roll downs on them! They also brought in live crashy cymbals! However, the kick drum & snare drum sounds, were left intact from the digital drum machine.)
Anyways...when it came time for Bill to sing his part on "Generation", his voice that day was way too hoarse, scratchy & not feeling too well...he tried...but no tamale! Vocal arranger Stan Endicott, asked Walt Harrah, who was basically hired to be the choir contractor for the album, to "try" to "sound" like Bill Batstone and emulate his style of "airy" lead vocal! Can you believe that? That's why it indeed "sounds" like Bill, but it is really & totally, Walt.
Bill went on to record at least three versions of his own special & unique vocal on "Generation"; first 3 years later, as a duet with Marsha Skidmore on the "Great Hymns of Faith" 3CD series (or something like that) in 1988, then on Bill's debut solo album in 1989, and even very, very recently in 2009, Bill came out with vocal-only/acoustic guitar only-type CD, where he once again sang "Generation" in a coffee-house, stripped down version."
A beautiful beautiful song, one of Bill Batstone's best songs. Period. From the Psalms Alive series, this album is the best from the series. I pray that I can write Christian music as good as him. Its truly a blessing to be able to do so. Series: Psalms Alive Album: Psalms Alive III Song: To Every Generation (Psalm 90) Words & Music by: Bill Batstone Vocals: Walth Harrah (Purposefully chose to sound like Bill Batstone and he does!!!) How do you know all this?
I'm also confused, I thought the vocals(The lead vocal) were Bill Batstone's??
Is it really Walth Harrah?
I'm so curious, how do you know all this?
Can you provide me with any other interesting Maranatha music information if you have.
Thank You and GOD Bless.
