Composer, Vocalist, Trumpeter. Philly born but Harlem native; son of Talib Dawud (aka Al Barrymore), co-creator of The Messengers Band" (forebearers of Jazz Messengers) along with Art Blakey, et al. Lead trumpet in Dizzy's Big Band, Armstrong Band, and others. Step-mom Capitol Recording Artist Dakota Staton (Aliyah Dawud) with hit record "The Late, Late, Show".
Clifford Brown's "Daahoud" was inspired by his association with my father. Other associates; Ahmad Jamal, Yusef Lateef, McCoy Tyner, Max Roach, Al Grey, Clark Terry.
Presently based in Bangkok but playing wherever the gig is. Originals (not yet recorded) - 45 Songs - vocal compositions.
