Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots (PC) - I've always considered this to be the spiritual successor to Age of Empires II; every time I pop the disk into my drive I have a good time. You can't say that about many video games these days.
My favorite bit? The Conquer the World campaigns, especially the Cold War.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Xbox 360) - Yes, it's true. I gave into the hype and bought this game. Considering that I've been a fan of the Elder Scrolls series since Morrowind, I honestly don't see anything truly revolutionary here; just a solid, enjoyable fantasy RPG (with greatly improved crafting and a lack of weapon maintenance). Love the Anglo-Saxonesque helmet designs for the town guards and the armour in general. There's still a few things I'd like to see make a return, however.
Such as crossbows and spears/pikes/halberds.
I want to skewer my enemies for once, damn it.
And robes over armour.
And a bug free initial release.
